Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of the BuildShot iPhone app. By installing or using it, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Licence
BuildShot grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not resell it, rent it, or attempt to decompile or reverse-engineer it.
What is free and what is paid
Taking photos, filing them to a job, the date written on them, spoken notes and to-dos are free, on as many job sites as you like, with no limit and no time bar. Reports — the PDF you hand a client — are the paid part. Any photo can still be sent out on its own without paying. Nothing you have already made is ever withheld, and stopping payment removes nothing from your phone.
One-off purchase
Reports may also be bought once, outright, rather than by subscription. That purchase is a non-consumable in-app purchase: it does not renew, there is nothing to cancel, and it stays with the Apple ID that bought it. Restoring it on a new device is done with the Restore button in the app. It carries no free trial.
Subscriptions
Reports may instead be paid for by subscription. Where a subscription is offered:
- The price, the period and any free trial are shown in the app before you confirm, and are charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings at any time.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
- Payments, refunds and cancellations are handled by Apple. BuildShot cannot issue refunds; requests go through Apple Support.
Your content is yours
The photos, notes, reports and job records you create with BuildShot belong to you. They are stored on your device and are not transmitted to us — see Privacy. We claim no rights over them and have no access to them.
Backups are your responsibility
There is no cloud copy. BuildShot stores everything on your phone and nowhere else. If the device is lost, destroyed or wiped, and you have no iPhone backup, the photos and reports are gone. Keep an iPhone backup, and export the reports that matter.
What the app does and does not assert
BuildShot writes a date and a place onto your photos, and where it can, it checks that date against an outside time source and marks the photo accordingly. This is a good-faith technical measure to make the date independent of your phone's clock. It is a record, not a legal certification, and BuildShot makes no representation that any photo, report or timestamp will be accepted as evidence by any court, insurer, adjuster or authority.
The place written on a photo comes from your phone's location services and is reported as received. It is not independently verified.
Acceptable use
Do not use BuildShot to record people without a lawful basis, to enter places you have no right to enter, or to produce documents intended to mislead. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your work, including those on privacy and on photographing private property.
Availability
The app is provided as it is. We work to keep it correct and will fix what is broken, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or free of defects, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost work, lost data or lost income, to the extent the law permits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the app changes. The date at the top shows when. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
